Bikini!

Yes, yes I know I have neglected this blog for way to long. I know there is no excuse, but I have plenty of them! School, moving to a new town and work are some of them. Anyways. I finally got the courage to wear a bikini. I have been wanting to wear one for awhile now, but trying to find a top in, wait for it, a 42G! Is damn near impossible. You usually have to go online and that they have one in your size. Even Lane Bryant only went up to a DDD! The ones at Torrid were crazy expensive and didn't have my size either. You would think plus size stores would have bigger tops, cause you know they're supposed to cater to bigger sizes, but noooo. I did find a site that had bigger tops, and was planning to get one there. For some reason I can't find it. Then one day I walked into Target and remembered they had a new plus size line. So I decided to take a look and lo and behold, they had bikinis. They didn't have specific cup sizes but the tops went to a 26w. I tried on the 26 and the back was too big, so then I tried on the 24 and it fit perfectly! It's so cute and I can't wait to wear it this summer!

It's in your genes or we already knew that, duh!

The UK version of Marie Claire just published this study "Size Zero Could be Down to Genes".

"Last year, the same researchers discovered that people with a missing copy of these genes were 43 times more likely to be morbidly obese."
This is nothing new, FA'ers have been saying this for ages, but basically when they explain this concept, a lot of the time all they get is an equivalent of a childish "la, la, la, I can't hear you!" from friends, family, co-workers and society in general.

"If we can work out why gene duplication in this region causes thinness it might throw up new potential treatments for obesity and appetite disorders"

Um what? You just said that weight has to do with genetics. How can you treat something that has to do with heredity? Being fat is not a disease! Oh yes I forgot, it's OK to be thin because of your genes. But if you are fat, oh noooo, you don't get a free pass. You still have to diet until you starve yourself and exercise until you pass out, YOU BIG FAT LAZY DISGUSTING PIG!

"This shows that failure to thrive in childhood can be genetically driven,’ says Professor Froguel. ‘If a child is not eating, it’s not necessarily the parents fault."

Doesn't that also mean it's not the parents fault if their child is fat?
But parents do get blamed if their child is fat, they are accused of feeding them improperly, of giving them too much junk food and not encouraging them to exercise enough. Some children even get taken away because it is seen as abuse.

This research just adds to the notion that it is OK to be thin for any reason, whether is genes or disease. If a person is thin because of anorexia or AIDS wasting syndrome they get sympathy (I am no way discounting these very serious diseases). But if a person is fat because of a disease or condition like hypothyroidism or PCOS, it's still that person's fault and should do everything they can to lose the weight. I am so tired of the double standard that thinness automatically means you are healthy and being fat means you are instantly unhealthy. Weight is not an indicator of health.

Is Susan Boyle the new role model for body acceptance?

Could Susan be the new role model for body acceptance? She said in Us Magazine,

"Maybe I'll consider a makeover later on," she told the London Times on Saturday. "For now I'm happy the way I am short and plump. I would not go in for Botox or anything like that. I'm content with the way I look. What's wrong with looking like Susan Boyle? What's the matter with that?"

There is nothing wrong with that! It is a message for all of us, stop dieting and trying to lose weight and getting plastic surgery, just love you they way you are and you will be happy. You are inspiration for all of us Susan, and never change who you are!

Evaporated soda? WTF?

Today I was taking one of those paid online survey things and one the questions asked about food products I have purchased in the past 3 months and one of the items was evaporated soda.

Have I been living under a rock for the last 27 years? Seriously, WTF is evaporated soda? Some new product not on the market yet? And how would it be made? A vat of liquid soda is left in some temperature and humidity controlled room and let to dehydrate? I can imagine the advertising for this:

Announcer: Tired of your soda going flat a few days after you open it and watching your hard earned money literally going down the drain? Well worry no more with evaporated soda! All you have to do is add seltzer and you will have soda instantly!

stupid Facebook quiz

I was searching quizzes to take on Facebook and found this. I have no words... well actually I do, but they aren't very polite. Here is the description: "Are you brave enough to know how fat you REALLY are? Take this exhaustive quiz and find out - just be ready to learn the truth, and hop on a treadmill if you need to."

Oh yeah cuz the ONLY reason why people has teh FATZ is because they are lazy! And it implies that fat people are absolutely delusional (don't read the article unless you have some major Sanity Points) *epic eye roll*

I miss my hair!

Yes I've gone and done it again. I've broke down and got a trim from a professional. I said I only wanted two inches but I think he cut up to four, maybe more. I thought by going to a barber, they wouldn't be hair butchers, but I guess I was wrong. Before the cut, it was almost hip length and now its above waist. Grrr! Since hair grows only 1/2in a month, it could take almost a year to grow that much back. My bf thinks I crazy, cuz its just hair after all, "It will grow back," he says. Those who do not have long hair just dont get it. They don't understand the time and care that it takes in growing it and the pride and attachment that comes with it. Cutting it can be compared to like cutting off an arm or a leg. Some people even cry when a significant amount is cut off, either willingly or not. I am grateful that it wasnt more. The plus side is that it is much healthier, it was starting to tangle like mad and started to drive me crazy. This experience has made vow to take care of my hair better so that it can grow long and healthy again.
